A recent article in The New Zealand Herald reported the Insurance Council saying last year was one of the most expensive years for storm damage, with more than $174 million of insured costs arising from weather-related events.

With New Zealand’s (and perhaps the world’s) unpredictable weather, it might just pay to check over your insurance details and update them if necessary. Whilst none of us plan to make a claim, when we do have to, we want it to cover our needs.

If you have bought new items since your last insurance renewal, or made changes to your existing property, vehicles or contents you’ll need to include these in your insurance. Maybe a new kitchen has added value to the house, you have changed vehicles or you have purchased a new music system, or whiteware. With the large number of unexpected weather-related events leading to insurance claims, it pays to review your cover – literally!’
